Additional Information:
The 3rd Mediterranean Freediving World Cup is a boat-based event which will, at times, include up to 3 boats and 10 safety divers/videographers in the water. The safety team are all experienced and specially trained safety freedivers who are getting paid for their work. The on-board safety system is based on a heavy duty motorized counterballast system which can reach ascent speeds in excess of 2.5meters/sec. As this is a boat-based event and space is limited both on the boats and in the water. As such, there is a good chance there will be times we will be unable to allow non-participants at the dive site (friends or family wishing to come and see or coach an athlete etc). Record attempt dives will be organized outside the normal training schedule of the first week so as to avoid interrupting other athletes’ training schedule. The costs of doping tests for World or National Records in Attempts or at the Competition are to be covered by the athlete and are not included in the fees or charges. Doping Test Kits will be available for World Records achieved at the competition. If your National AIDA requires a doping test for the recognition of a National Record at an Attempt or at the Competition the athlete or National AIDA need to contact the organizers to arrange for a suitable test kit to be made available to the jury.
The organizers reserve the right to refuse to setup a dive if they feel that the athlete is requesting / behaving in an unsafe manner. This is particularly relevant to large increases in depth in sled dives, repetitive deep dives in one day or any other dive pattern the organizers feel might increase chances of DCS or other diving related injury. The nearest hyperbaric facility is the Navy Hospital chamber in the city of Athens which can be reached in approximately 2.5 hours using our evacuation vehicle. The nearest emergency room is located at the Kalamata Hospital located 10 minutes from our dive site. Athletes wishing to attempt deep dives in any discipline are strongly recommended to have personal DAN insurance to cover any possible transfer & hyperbaric treatment costs. |
